We don't see many good single Ilmenite crystals and this one is just about textbook in crystal habit and form. It is very well-formed tabular crystal of Ilmenite, but by looking at it you'd never know it was in the hexagonal crystal system. All of the faces are sharp, as are most of the edges with some rounding from natural growth. It exhibits a sub-metallic luster with a brown-black color. It's a great crystal of this iron-titanium oxide. Although common in principle from this area of many small mines and diggings by collectors, a sharp crystal of this quality is really quite rare.
