This is a significant cluster of Parisite-(La) from the little known Mula Mine in the Bahia state of Brazil. Parisite-(La) is a very rare calcium-lanthanum fluorocarbonate and these crystals are large for the species! The cluster consists of dozens of stout, well-formed, pseudo-hexagonal crystals between 0.5 and 1.8 cm in length. Some of the stubby prismatic crystals show slight tapering at their terminations. The crystals of Parisite-(La) are actually an opaque, creamy white with many exhibiting a variegated pale gray-green mottling. This is one of the best clusters of this mineral that we've seen in many years and the Mula Mine is a surprisingly significant deposit given the well-formed rare-earth carbonate specimens it has produced. Parisite in all its varieties is a scarce, rare-earth carbonate and this locality has produced specimens in very small quantities. Luiz Menezes label, from his collection, and exchanged, before he passed away, to Bruno Gioia of Sao Paulo.
