Azurite with Malachite
Liufengshan Mine, Guichi Dist., Chizhou, Anhui, China
Small Cabinet, 9.5 x 5.7 x 2.7 cm
SOLD

We don't see small cabinet pieces of this quality from China very often and this is a very good specimen - very reminiscent of those from Milpillas. This Chinese Azurite with Malachite specimen is an outstanding, bright example due to the combination of size, color, condition and aesthetics of the piece. Dozens upon dozens of sparkling, electric-blue crystals of Azurite from 0.5 to 1.8 cm in size completely cover the display face of this attractive piece. The piece has rolling surface so that the crystals along the back horizon are elevated relative to the rest of the piece resulting in great presentations of the crystals. The crystals are all well-formed with all of the faces smooth and very glassy. They have a rich blue color and incident light sets fire their interior resulting in the much sought after electric-blue color more associated with Mexican material from 2008-2012, than from anything of Chinese origin. We bought it in China, and we know the miner's family. It is Chinese...but it is just so good that it stands out dramatically from the rest.
