Crocoite from the modern finds in Tasmania are gorgeous but they tend to form as beautiful crystal clusters of slender, moderately-lustrous radiating sprays, while older material such as this piece from the 1980s or previously, had some exceptional, elongated, translucent crystals with metallic luster, as you see here. This is an extremely rare quality to find today. The location is not producing anything of this magnitude today, in a few attempts at modern remaining projects. Note the tip has an ingrown hollow section: it is essentially hollow near the tip due to skeletal growth patterns in which the exterior of the crystal grew faster than the interior. An old classic, a stunning color, and a gorgeous specimen. One repair, about 1 cm from the tip.
