Like the triplite in this update, also from Obodda collection, this is another uncommon species from the Shengus region of Pakistan, a glassy and gemmy vayrynenite crystal with a unique orangy-red hue. The sharpness, color saturation, and overall quality make this competitive. There are bigger crystals out there, and a new find of elongated gem crystals with more of a strawberry color, but this is the old classic that we killed for, in the early 2000s when a few came out. This thumbnail is from the competitive thumbnail suite of the Herb Obodda collection, which we bought in 2008. Herb not only brought it out, but almost single handedly opened this region of the world to fine minerals and collectors. His extensive collection was a treasure, and he loved thumbnails and small jewels, so the fact he kept this is fairly notable.
