Azurite with Malachite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia
Miniature, 4.6 x 3.1 x 2.1 cm
Ex. Dr. Thomas Campbell
SOLD

GEM crystals of azurite, freestanding on a beautiful matrix, make for a really dramatic and unusual miniature of Tsumeb azurite. Although Milpillas drowned the world in an azurite flood, and everybody can have an azurite per se, they are not like this - this style remains unique to Tsumeb and therefore something special to my eye. It is a well balanced miniature, complete all around. From the collection of Dr. Tom Campbell, our staff mineralogist and lifelong collector (and incidentally a coauthor of the famous old HEAVY book, Encyclopedia of Minerals). Note - repair on the vertical crystal.
