A significant European millerite specimen of large size and mass, this is an old piece from the Eugenia lead mine in Spain that was operated during the late 1800s and into the 1970s. It was primarily a lead mine, but a variety of other metals were also recovered including nickel as this rich Millerite piece testifies. Numerous, brassy, radiating clusters are tightly intergrown and composed of brilliant metallic Millerite needles producing dense, multiple clusters. The needles are between a few millimeters to 1 cm in length and some of the smaller crystals occur as fine, hair-like masses in small vugs in this piece that is essentially all Millerite! It's quite an amazing specimen for the species and the locality. This is an old classic locality and few pieces ever turn up on today's market. The label, from Fabre in Barcelona, indicates it was found in 1989 (on the dumps, one would assume). A unique, large, flashy display specimen of millerite in a size and richness I have not seen from Europe. 750 grams
