Zircon occurs at many localities, but few have this surface look with great character like this old-timer, right out of textbooks on the old discoveries in Europe. This is a gorgeous, transparent to translucent, deep amber crystal with a tapered termination and a variety of crystal forms that give it a subtly complex style - especially those faces that make up the termination. There is some internal fracturing that actually highlights the color and makes the crystal glow (when backlit). It is in excellent condition although contacted at the base. Fantastic yellow fluorescence. It comes with an old handwritten label that indicates "Minsk, Urals" for the locality and dated to the late 1800s in an old collection we purchased in Zurich; however, it is today more correctly known to be from the Vishnevye Mountains in Chelyabinsk Oblast', Southern Urals, Urals Region, Russia.
