A dramatic and geometric, blue-purple Tanzanite crystal from the best and only locality for this Zoisite variety in the world! This is beautiful single crystal with its gorgeous and intense blue-purple color, super glassy luster and good gemminess. It has great geometry with a broad, lustrous main prism face, pyramidal terminations and the fact that it almost looks to be a twinned crystal, but technically isn't. Views from the sides and the top easily reveal its gem areas with some minor to moderate internal fracture traces that are common in many of these. The internal brilliance and the surface luster are both very high, and the saturated blue color is at the top of the spectrum for what you could ask for in a Tanzanite. When backlit it glows from across a room. Tanzanite can be heat treated to enhance the blue saturation, and this drives out the third color (red to brown) you otherwise see on the long axis (c-axis) when shining a light from the bottom. The color on this piece looks like natural hues and saturation, but the view along the c-axis reveals the absence of the third, trichroic, red-brown color suggesting it was heat treated. Still, most of them are and with disclosure, this is acceptable - and it looks stunning. This is a glassy, sparkling miniature sized crystal with a mass of 23 grams.
