Woodwardite
Qinglong, Guizhou, China
Small Cabinet, 7.5 x 7.0 x 4.7 cm

What a gorgeous, variegated blue Woodwardite, from new finds in China that now probably represent the best-of-species! Woodwardite is rare hydrated Cu-Al sulfate secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits, but is quite rare as aesthetic specimens. They weigh almost nothing due to the aluminum content, and it is like holding paper in your hand, and yet it looks like blue, heavy, aragonite. A super-interesting specimen for the shape and form! This is from the 2 flats we purchased in March of 2020, and no more of the quality came out since.
