Nepheline is a relatively common igneous rock forming mineral found in certain rock types, but rarely do you find them in good crystals in a pocket like this cluster. This miniature is composed of at least two dozen white to pinkish coated hexagonal crystals of Nepheline, one measuring 2.5 cm in length and 2.1 cm across the termination. This larger crystal serves as a backdrop for numerous crystals around it that range in size up to 1.5 cm, all of them nicely terminated. Nepheline is a sodium-potassium-aluminum silicate and this locality in Morocco has produced some great crystal clusters like this fine miniature.
