Durangite is a very rare arsenate found in literally only a few pockets of large crystals, throughout history. It happens that this is from the type locality, from a small trove found over 50 years ago and kept in a shoebox for decades, until it was sold off in Tucson by somebody who discovered the stash sometime around 2010 (if memory serves). This sharp, deep red crystal from the type locality presents a dramatic display. Sharp form. Good color - what more can you ask of a rarity?
