One certainly doesn't think of Brazil when it comes to great specimens of Azurite and Malachite, but this piece will certainly make one take a second look! Brazil does not have any major copper mines so good secondary copper minerals from this country are rare! This attractive plate shows numerous, mounded, royal blue Azurite rosettes to 1.6cm across composed of thin, bladed crystals that are partially to almost completely replaced by bright green Malachite. This piece is from the late 1990's finds at this unique Brazilian locality. A showy piece in excellent condition! Ex. Dr. Bob Byers collection with label.
