Four bladed crystals of Wolframite dominate this very stout cluster from the important Yaogangxian Mine. The sub-metallic luster is outstanding, so reflective it is almost mirror-like, and it really highlights the silvery-black color. The complex terminations are nicely formed, and the specimen was sawn off at the base in order to be preserved during mining. Thank goodness it was saved. Wolframite is a tungstate with varying amounts of iron or manganese, and it is intermediate between Hubnerite and Ferberite. Many of these were found in the 1990s and 2000s.
