Barite
Frizington, Cumbria, England
Small Cabinet, 7.7 x 7.2 x 3.3 cm
SOLD
A historic old classic, these blue barites are immediately recognizable as survivors from England's mining heyday in the 1800s. An intact, tabular, doubly terminated, grayish blue barite crystal, measuring 7.7 cm in length, is glassy and gemmy. The large crystal is the host for three smaller barite crystals as well as a smattering of drusy, tan dolomite crystals. The pastel-blue color is most coveted for Frizington barites, and this is a highly aesthetic example in this size and in unusually good condition!
