Millerite, Gaspeite, Annabergite
Pafuri nickel deposit, Vhembe District, Limpopo Province, South Africa
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm
SOLD
Very rich millerite specimen from an uncommon South African locality. Thick, divergent, brassy to greenish, subhedral clusters of millerite prevail in this piece. The millerite is transected by <1 to 4mm bright green-yellow seams and fracture-fillings of annabergite and gaspeite. The quartz portion is also lightly stained a similar color from the secondary nickel minerals. A great display piece from a relatively obscure locality, that has a mineralogical story to tell in its complexity! Seldom seen for sale.
