Lustrous and beautifully crystallized, this rare earth silicate exhibits a a mottled tan coloration. Allanite crystals are not often found this large and well-developed from any locale. Allanite crystals are sometimes slightly radioactive due to minor uranium or thorium inclusions, therefore, they are often metamict and rough.
