Llallagua is historically one of the great South American mineral localities, mined for tin and known for its rare phosphates such as the three Vauxite varietals, which includes Paravauxite and Vauxite. Metavauxite is the rarest of this group. This thumbnail is exceptional, featuring a beautiful spherical cluster of rich mint-green Metavauxite that contains a slight hint of blue. The cluster is solid Metavauxite, attractive and translucent. What adds greatly to the specimen for both mineral interest and aesthetics is the highly lustrous, 1 cm spray of WHITE Metavauxite needles attached. It almost looks the blue-green Metavauxite is holding a bouquet. This is a classic and very "meaty" fine thumbnail of this ultra-rare species from the Type Locality - the Siglo Veinte Mine.
