Bahianite (rough and cut set)
Pico das Almas river, Paramirim das Crioulas,
Thumbnail, 1.1 x 0.8 x 0.6 cm (Crystal), 0.49 ct (Gem)
SOLD
1.1 x 0.8 x 0.6 cm (Specimen); 0.49 carats; 4.61 mm x 4.17 mm (Gem) - Bahianite is a VERY rare antimony hydroxide species that is only found in Brazil. This set features a classic "nugget" of bronze colored Bahianite that was found in the Pico das Almas River, and gets its rounded nature from being tumbled in the river. The matching stone (from the same locality) is a translucent "Pear Step" cut gem with a slightly lighter color than the matching rough. If you want one of these sets, putting a matching gem to the rough is difficult, and this is a great opportunity to pick up a desirable rare rough and cut for your collection.
