Leifite (rough and cut set)
Thumbnail, 2.4 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm (Crystal), 0.91 ct (Gem)
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada,
2.4 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm (Specimen); 0.91 carats; 7.67 mm x 4.34 mm (Gem) - A very rare example of rough and cut Leifite from the classic locality at Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. This set features an SI-clarity "Trapezoid" cut gem with a very soft lilac-silvery hue. The specimen hosts tiny almost acicular needle like crystals of Leifite (not the predominant tabular blocky crystals). Despite the fact that the stone is not completely clean, it's a still a really good sized stone for the species, and the inclusions are more than acceptable because I've never seen a piece of Leifite that it 100% transparent in this size.
