Berg Aukas is world-renowned for its extraordinary Descloizite (zinc analogue of Mottramite) specimens, and this piece is no exception to that. This superb small cabinet specimen has excellent spear-point crystals of Descloizite with fabulous luster and sharp, beveled edges. The translucent to gemmy crystals have stepped faces, and the largest is about 1.4 cm. The back side, if you can call it the back it is so good, is populated with over a hundred sharp mm-size rhombs of sparkly brown calcite specks. It is, in my opinion, just a tremendous small cabinet-sized crystal specimen for a species which is usually dismissed as dull, earthy, and ugly out of hand. Well, not this piece - the aesthetics are truly great on this competition-level specimen.
