Remondite
Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
Thumbnail, 1.7 x 1.1 x 0.5 cm
SOLD
Glowing with a rich amber color, and with good luster and gemminess, this is a shockingly fine and large crystal of remondite from the famous alkaline massif of Mt. St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. MSH is well known for its abundant suite of rare minerals, and some (like this) are very seldom found there, known from only a few pockets. Here is one of those rare species that you know exists as micromaterial from a famous place, but never think would be worthy to own in a display collection. It is the only really impressive crystal I have seen for sale, personally, and I think it is therefore a fairly high level of significance in thumbnail specimens. This crystal is gemmy, bright, colorful, and superb for its species! For what it is, this is a major display rarity.
