A gorgeous specimen of sparkling GEM thaumasite crystals to 1.5 cm, completely covered all around this nicely shaped matrix! This piece was hand-delivered to me by South African dealer Clive Queit, who had kept it back from the finds released early last year. It is without a doubt one of the finrst, perhaps the finest at least for its size, from the find. They actually came out last year labeled as ettringites but it has now been shown they are the much rarer member of that series and they are generally considered to be the best yet known. Illustrated as a prime example of the find on the Mineralogical Record website's news column, at www.minrec.org. 7 x 4 x 4 cm
