Pyrargyrite
Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru
Small Cabinet, 6.0 x 4.0 x 3.5 cm
SOLD
We know this mine better for rhodo's and recently also for prolific wire silver specimens, but a good pyrargyrite is a lot harder to come by! This one came out some time ago (5-6 years), and has remained one of the better such that I have seen since. It features two well-exposed crystals on contrasting matrix, the larger crystal reaching 3 cm in length! The crystals are a vivid pigeon-blood red color when strongly backlit, and are translucent throughout. Overall, a superb pyrargyrite specimen for ANY locality, but especially for the Andes. 6 x 4 x 3.5 cm
