Ludlockite is another of the ULTRA-RARE, Holy Grail mineral species for which, the Tsumeb Mine is renowned and the Type Locality. This very fine miniature has a superb spray of bright coppery red-orange, felt-like, acicular ludlockite needles filling a vug in germanite matrix! The ludlockite spray jumps out at you. This is from the famous second find of the material and there were only two major finds in all the time of Tsumeb that we know of, form the mid 1980s on the so-called germanium level where all kinds of bizarre species turned up.
