Huantajayite was once a valid species, now shown to be a variety of argentian (silver-rich) halite which leaves a milky-white suspension of AgCl when dissolved in water. However, for a time, it was quite the novelty and this served as the type locality for the valuable rarity. The halite here is embedded in lightweight copper-rich matrix. Ex.
