Wieliczka Mine, Wieliczka, Malopolskie, Poland
Cabinet, 10.0 x 7.1 x 5.2 cm

This rare specimen is from the most famous, and possibly the oldest underground salt mine in the world. It features a sculptural cluster of intergrown, almost transparent cubes of halite measuring up to 1 inch across. The color is a light off-white and the specimen has a satiny or matte finish. It is truly classic for the locality, and very visually impressive as well. Most of us don't think of salt as a colelctible mineral, but when it is this good, it really is such a thing 10 x 7.1 x 5.2 cm
