Cabinet, 12.3 x 3.6 x 2.9 cm
Black Water Mine, Black Mesa Basin, Apache Co., Arizona, USA
Superb, lustrous needles of groutite, to 4 mm, RICHLY cover both sides of CABINET-SIZED quartz-replaced petrified wood! This specimen is from a remarkable and so far unique find in 1975. A miner who'd worked in the area for years brought in a small lot of a dozen specimens to a rock shop owned by Lolette Dalbeck in Ridgecrest, California. This would be one of the larger specimens. It is REALLY bizarre material for the species! Ex. Stephen Chamberlain Collection.
