Yankee Girl Mine, Poughkeepsie Gulch, Silverton District, San Juan Co., Colorado, USA
Toenail, 3.0 x 2.3 x 1.1 cm
A large, sharp, attractive, very well-formed, classic Freibergite specimen from this well- known mine in San Juan County. This specimen was a gift from the well-known Colorado collector Hall Miller to Rich Kosnar in late 1979. It shows excellent tetrahedral form with excellent striated faces. This piece was analyzed by Hal Miller, and it is indeed Freibergite, not Tennanite or Tetrahedrite.
