This species was first discovered and named for the deposit at Autun, France. Year of Discovery: 1852! I must admit that I had myself never heard of this locality before, nor seen a specimen! I thought the label was wrong until I looked it up and found this to be a legit locality of which I was ignorant. On the granite matrix is this most colorful druse of autunite crystals, an electric or bright lemon yellow. The gemmy crystals average about 1 mm across but there must be thousands of them here. I don
