Diamond crystals and matrix specimens
Mar. 6, 2016 - Explore this grouping of diamonds, both in matrix and as loose crystals, encompassing 20 years of mining at this classic Russian locale. We have never offered so many at one time! The update includes several rare matrix examples and two significant large gem crystals. The gemmy, transparent macle-twinned diamonds here are great for collectors who want a showy, large diamond crystal at a fair price, because they have a greater surface area to mass/price ratio than traditional simple octohedra. They are actually more rare, even in the ground, but less suited for cutting. It has been several years since my best diamond crystal source could accumulate any meaningful stash of these macle twins for our market.
