This variety of chrysoberyl is rarely found in crystals this good. Twinned, 2.5 cm long, greenish-black crystals with good luster and form highlight this specimen. Sparkling mica acts as the matrix for this piece, which I think is superb. Shown in normal fluorescent indoor lighting. However, with halogen lighting, it does go purple and with more pure fluorescent or sunlit lighting, it will go a deeper green in hue - so this IS a colorchanging alexandrite. it's just hard to convey.
