OLDEURO-128
Manganite
Ilfeld, Thuringia, Germany
Cabinet, 10.8 x 6.8 x 5.4 cm

This handsized specimen is, in person, a very attractive manganite specimen with incredible metallic luster to the crystals you do not often see. It features several crystals to nearly 3 cm, elongated, in a protected pocket. Some crystals are damaged at their tips, but most are in good shape including the largest, and it is an impactful piece overall. This is one of the most significant localities for the species, and specimens like this were collected in the late 1880s-1890s and remain rare today.
