Jamesite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia (Type Locality)
Miniature, 4.3 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm
SOLD
A specimen rich with small red microcrystals of the rare arsenate Jamesite, from the type locality, in veins mixed with duftite and on contrasting white dolomite. There is more here than appears in the photos, with a seam running into that protected cavity you see A relatively rich piece, overall, compared to the two other specimens I have seen (I admit not many to go by, but that is probably more than most people have handled, again?). Despite reports of later finds at Greek Mines (possibly postmining?), these remain the only Jamesites I have ever seen. Mostly, I admit that I ignore micros by and large - but some have a special romance and beauty to them that get past even my barbarous eyes, especially from the miracle mine of Tsumeb. (TYPE LOCALITY)
