Wulfenite (Bipyramidal) on Mimetite
Level 6, San Juan Poniente Vein, Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
Small Cabinet, 6.6 x 5.6 x 4.0 cm
I was able to break up one large specimen with the rare green mimetite (that really looks more like arsendescloizite but XRAY says it is just weird mimetite), to yield a few more displayable miniatures. This was the rarest in the find and the combination I think is completely and totally unique as well as beautiful, compared to anything else out there for the species. This is a very dramatic piece with sharp pointy wulfenites to almost 1 cm on rolling hillocks of mimetite. One wulfenite crystal only has a minute tip ding (hard to see in any case - lower-left photo), the rest are pristine.
