Erythrite
Bou Azzer, Atlas Mtns, Morocco
Miniature, 3.9 x 2.0 x 1.3 cm
SOLD
This specimen is spectacular because it exhibits two qualities not seen in most erythrite. First, most erythrites are heavily bruised due to the fact that they are soft. Especially a problem with large crystals...here, the main crystal fan has no damage. Secondly, the usual erythrite displays one or two crystals. This specimen displays individual diverging crystals forming a fan-like cluster across perhaps 30 degrees. As do most specimens, this piece exhibits a rich magenta color, luster, and translucence. In addition, this specimen has several, small, crystals of an unknown cobaltian phosphate, embedded with calcite and aesthetically emplaced on the specimen. Superb quality! Complete all around. It is a small miniature in person but has a presence beyond its size, because of the visual impact of the large vertical spray.
