In the past several years at the major shows, dealers have been asking inflated prices for Caldbeck Fells pyros that exhibited huge amounts of damage. Based on the going prices, this specimen could sell for more than $10,000. Howev, er I got it as a deal and am passing it on...This pyro is easily one of the best I have seen for sale in recent years. Both spindle and cauliflower shaped crystals abound on this light olive green, lustrous specimen. It is the classic form found in the mid 1840s from this mine, and preserved now mostly in museums. I particularly like the fact that when displayed vertically it is easy to see the vugs that traverse the length of the specimen. One peripheral crystal, on the lower left side, has been damaged, but this is of no consequence. Otherwise, it is nearly pristine. This is a fine display piece, and more importantly a major English pyromorphite.
