Cassiterite
Cornwall, England
Miniature, 3.8 x 3.3 x 2.1 cm
Ex. Smith College; Dr. Gary Hansen
SOLD
This important specimen is a cluster of extremely lustrous cassiterite to 2 cm, with the highest luster you could dream of for a Cornish specimen. It is most likely, by comparison to known specimens, from the Wheal Kea area. It is so lustrous in fact, that it somehow ended up with the garnet suite that Gary Hansen obtained from Smith College in the early 1980s. (even though the museum's own label denotes it as a cornish cassiterite)
