A gemmy and attractive flattened, twinned Fluorite crystal on matrix from the pegmatites of the Erongo region. This Fluorite is transparent to translucent with an overall delicate pale blue color with patches of purple on the broad faces with luster ranging from glassy to silky. The crystal has distinct Spinel Law twinning with the twin plane parallel to the two broad, bounding faces. The Fluorite is perched nicely on a nest of earlier formed, small (less than 4 mm) green Fluorite crystals and is associated with a few Quartz crystals to 1.5 cm, and a colorless formation at the tip of the Fluorite turns out to be Hyalite Opal, which glows neon green under ultraviolet light. The matrix is granular, off-white Albite. Unusually well displayed, this matrix twin is rare amidst many that are loose singles.
