The renowned Pingwu Mine has produced fabulous Beryls, Scheelites, and Cassiterites since the early 1990s. In particular, the gemmy and beautiful Aquamarines from Pingwu have a unique habit compared to other localities around the world. Essentially tabular, these Aquas are similar in shape and in form to Morganites from everywhere else, an oddity that has never been fully explained. This very fine cluster boasts a dozen intergrown and parallel Aquas, with the largest being 4.4 cm across. Gemmy to translucent, the crystals have a luster that is exceptionally glassy and serves to highlight the attractive, light-blue color. Interestingly, the piece sits perfectly on a base composed of equally-perfect crystal faces, and in this area of the cluster the Aquas are intergrown with Muscovites. It is the left edge of the cluster that is actually the contact point. The Aquas present themselves in a very aesthetic fashion, where the color and gemminess can really be appreciated and admired.
