Dioptase on Calcite
Tsumeb Mine, Oshikoto Region, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 5.4 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm
Ex. Richard Rossi

This is a classic Dioptase of mid-1980s vintage, but with the rarest of desirable specimen associations: shocking pure white calcite, in large crystals, to offset the stunning green of the dioptase. At the time, these few specimens of green on white were considered the most desirable AND the most expensive, and this remains true today. This is a complete, pristine 3-dimensional knob, complete 360 degrees all around, with stunning dioptase that is almost gemmy, to 6mm, perched on the calcite. For the size, it would be hard to find a better one in this style for anything under several five figures, but beyond that comment it is just really aesthetic. The contrast is everything! Note this is either a large miniature or a small small cabinet, right at the size borderline.
