This is a unique specimen of very lustrous, lavender colored Spinel octahedra. Purple-lavender Spinel is quite rare, and this is one of the nicest thumbnail examples of good crystals we've seen. It's a small, complex group of at least two, essentially gem octahedrons with the largest, and gemmiest, octahedron measuring 1.5 cm on its longest edge. The smaller, adjacent, intergrown Spinel (or two) isn't as well formed and is a little turbid at the interior. The piece is very aesthetic, complete all around, and features crystals with great transparency and surface luster. It is an exceptional thumbnail of lavender-purple Spinel from Burma! The piece has a mass of 5.28 grams. A gorgeous, full size thumbnail specimen.
