This is truly a bizarre formation of thick and robust crystals of copper, with multiple interesting display angles and complete all around. Vertically, the large, smooth copper crystal looks like a flame, 10cm tall, while the other provides a complete juxtaposition with many smaller spiky crystals haphazardly connected. Displayed horizontally, the patinated copper looks like a set of jaws. The White Pine mine dates back to the late 1890s, and specimens like these are classic examples of a bygone era, as the mine was allowed to flood in the late 1990s after over a hundred years of operating. This is a very large, impactful, dramatic copper with a HUGE and important crystal, front and center. We have never seen one quite like this in terms of aesthetics, presenting such a large elongated crystal so cleanly instead of in the usual mass of heavy material they tend to occur in. 396 grams (about a pound!). From an old Copper Country collection being sold off a few years ago by Michigan specialist Don Olson.
