When we think of Vesper Peak in Washington State it brings to mind the gorgeous Grossular Garnet crystals from there and this is an unusual association for the locality with a relatively large, and ridged, botryoid of Prehnite has grown on a sliver of matrix hosting numerous, small, bright, 2 to 3 mm, cinnamon-orange Grossular Garnets! The Prehnite light mint-green botryoid, although somewhat roughly textured, has a smooth appearance in that there is no evidence of any individual crystals like there is on so many of the other Prehnites in this update. The botryoid is definitely three-dimensional and has a distinct crest running right down the center of it with the remainder of the botryoid tapering down away from it. The Prehnite is also slightly translucent and almost glows! The contrast between the pale green Prehnite and the reddish Grossulars provides great contrast and aesthetics. This specimen came from early recovery after the property was sold to James Zigras around 2010, and I bought it directly from James' personal collection and sold it to Charlie shortly after. It has not been on the market , publicly, before. This is a significant locality specimen aside from the unusual shape.
