This is a gorgeous and substantial Prehnite from the Goboboseb Mountains. This very aesthetic and lustrous small cabinet piece consists of several, bright, relatively large and tightly grouped, radial divergent aggregates of vibrant, mint-green Prehnite. The gorgeous green Prehnite clusters measures anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 cm across and each cluster is composed of a myriad of divergent, bladed crystals from 1 to 2 cm in length and approximately 2 mm in width that reflect any incident light as you rotate the piece! The individual Prehnite clusters are all actually thick, approximately 1 cm, rounded, randomly oriented and tightly packed, 1 cm thick radial pinwheels. It is interestingly contacted at the bottom in that it shows a sliver of matrix that hosts and arcuate matrix of small, 2 to 4 mm Calcite crystals. The other surprise here is that you find out that at least some of the Prehnite has formed as a cast after relatively large, preexisting Laumontite crystals. This is an exquisite Prehnite that also has an interesting paragenetic history as a bonus! And, it is from the personal collection of the legendary dealer who really opened up Africa and literally was regarded as the top dealer and collector coming out of Africa for decades. He sourced it there himself, from his home in Swakopmund.
