This is a beautiful and large Herkimer Quartz cluster from New York consisting of one large and several smaller crystals, showing the wonderful "faceted gem style" these are world-famous for. Clusters like this composed of numerous crystals are not common, and this one has a primary crystal at over three inches in length accompanied by a half dozen smaller crystals ranging in size from 1.3 to 5.5 cm in length. All of the crystals in this cluster are incredibly glassy with the largest crystal perfectly terminated on one end and then has a lovely 4 cm, doubly terminated Quartz growing on the other end. The other crystals are in a cluster sitting atop the large Quartz crystal to provide great balance and aesthetics. The large crystal has some internal crazing, probably developed during growth, that adds tremendous internal sparkle to the piece. Some dark inclusions are present in some of these crystals on the backside of the piece largely where contacted with the pocket substrate. There are a few minor dings and contact to the crystals on the back of the piece only a slight contact on one back tip. While it doesn't look repaired, usually such clusters are repaired and one should assume such when buying them. It is unusual, for the location and just for a quartz cluster in general, in this quality.
