Fluorite
Denton Mine, Cave in Rock District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Large Cabinet, 20.0 x 13.4 x 12.2 cm
SOLD

A very large, nearly pristine cluster of gemmy and transparent fluorite crystals from one of the most famous fluorite mines in the world, this probably came out in the 1980s or 1990s. It is ridiculously large to be so nicely transparent, and features zones of yellow and purple within. However the color does change in different spectra of lights - different lighting makes it more purple, or more yellow, depending. 2.3 kilos! It is even largely complete on back, nearly a floater in fact. It has some fine crystal faces and sharp patterns on the backside. Because it is free of matrix, it is unusually transparent, and easy to backlight. Really, much better in person, and hard to convey in photos.
