This is a very finely composed specimen of this rare iron phosphate consisting of a spray wonderful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy green crystals on a Siderite and Pyrite matrix. It makes for a perfectly balanced miniature. The Ludlamites occur in several, pointed, radiating sheaf-like aggregates composed of lustrous, translucent crystals up to 1.6 cm in length. The cluster is almost like an asterism that is somewhat truncated on either side by hollowed crusts composed of tiny, sparkling siderite crystals and some Pyrite in places. The piece has nice composition and presents very well for display. There are less than a half-dozen localities in the world that produce fine, specimen quality Ludlamites and all of them, except for Huanuni, are defunct. In addition, there have been no more of pockets found at Huanuni in the last decade except only one major pocket in that time. These remain rare (at least, in quality), and this one has a style that makes it stand out.
