Ridiculously large crystals of pink smithsonite reach 3.4 cm on this outstanding, important, cabinet sized specimen. The rich pink color is due to cobalt inclusions, a Tsumeb classic for which the mine gives us the world's best of this varietal. The 3-dimensional knob is nearly complete all around, and is only contacted on the periphery at the back. The display face is beautiful, dimensional, lustrous, and evenly colored. All the large crystals are intact and pristine, with only a few tiny and hard to see dings present on smaller crystals. This is a significant specimen for Tsumeb, probably from the 1960s or 1970s. The crystals are translucent, and with a little backlighting they really glow. We have seldom seen such specimens, in this size and condition.
