Rose Quartz and Smoky Quartz on Quartz
Pitorra claim, Laranjeiras, Galileia, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 6.5 x 5.1 cm
Ex. Bruno and Rolando Gioia
Simply gorgeous, this is a stunning, two-toned small cabinet Brazilian Rose Quartz specimen from the Rolando and Bruno Gioia collection. Clusters of sublime pink Rose Quartz are all over this piece and comprise numerous radiating clusters of 1 cm crystals, some doubly terminated back to front on the piece. A later generation of transparent, pale smoky Quartz clusters strategically accent the Rose Quartz in a few places to great effect! This is an aesthetic Rose Quartz specimen with excellent color and crystallization. Crystallized Rose Quartz is not as common as people like to think, and good ones are hard to come by. This would have been mined over 30 years ago. Ex. Rolando and Bruno Gioia, from their multigenerational family collection (both were contributors to the definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
